In this discussion of favorite authors, I will try to stick to those of reasonably modern vintage, assuming most readers will be familiar with the likes of Heinlein, Asimov, Clark, and the other giants of the early and middle years. Instead, I will focus on prominent contemporary writers whom I like and admire, which may have escaped the attention of the casual sci-fi enthusiast.
